SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning that occurred in Sarasota on Saturday.

At 9:53 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a drowning in the 9000 block of Blind Pass Road.

At the scene, they assisted the Sarasota County Fire Department, which was rendering aid to a man. However, lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced deceased, according to a release.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section is actively investigating the incident.
