COLLEGE PARK — Now the real test begins for Maryland football.

To the surprise of perhaps no one, the Terps wrapped up the non-Big Ten prelude to their schedule by walloping visiting Towson, 44-17, on Saturday afternoon before an announced 36,780 at SECU Stadium.

Maryland’s fourth 3-0 start in the past five years is encouraging. But whether the program will open with four consecutive victories for the first time since 2023 will depend on how they fare next Saturday at Wisconsin — a significantly more difficult challenge than Florida Atlantic, Northern Illinois and the Tigers.
