NEW YORK — When Benny Agbayani retired from the game of baseball in 2009 after six seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, he ditched all of his baseball equipment.

The Hawaii native, who earned cult hero status for his 13th inning walk-off home run against the Giants in Game 3 of the 2000 NLDS, told himself he was never going to suit up again.

On Saturday afternoon, the former outfielder changed his tune and he, along with a few dozen former Mets, put on the orange and blue again and competed in the Mets Alumni Classic at Citi Field.

"I'm very excited being back," Agbayani said before the game. "I don't miss suiting up or anything. I just miss this - being around the guys, the clubhouse atmosphere and seeing the fans again. That's what I really missed."
