With $33 million in opening day box office receipts, “Demon Slayer: Kimesu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” easily assumed the No. 1 spot on Friday.

It is the first in a trilogy of films inspired by the beloved Japanese manga animated series, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. 3

“Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” raked in $8.85 million during its first full day in theaters — enough to take the No. 2 slot.

Billed as the last chapter in the beloved British franchise, it failed to surpass the $14 million in first-day earnings generated by the original 2019 “Downton Abbey” film. 3
