UNC football doesn't want to be on the wrong side of history against FCS opponent Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 13 (3:30 p.m., ACC Network) at Kenan Stadium.
The Tar Heels (1-1) and Spiders (1-1) are playing for the first time since 1978, but Richmond has held bragging rights since that game in Virginia. UNC hasn't lost to an FCS opponent since 1999 against Furman in Chapel Hill, averaging nearly 54 points per game in its last three games against FCS programs.
The Spiders have won 28 games over the last three seasons as one of the top programs at their level. They beat an ACC program in 2016, earning a win against Virginia Tech.
