MONROE, N.C. — Reaction to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a Utah college campus continues as more people share their thoughts on social media. Some have called for consequences for people who are believed to be celebrating Kirk's death, from private citizens to public figures.

The sparring over reactions has been seen across the country and in the Carolinas , including in the Charlotte area. In Union County, tensions have flared over comments shared by a volunteer and former chair of the Union County Democratic Party .
