For actor Cooper Hoffman, his latest project has proven to be his most physically demanding role yet.

Starring as Raymond Garraty in the new movie “The Long Walk,” Hoffman plays a teenager forced to participate in a grueling walking competition where both the stakes and casualties are high.

Based off of the 1979 Stephen King novel, which was penned under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, the dystopian thriller tells the story of 50 boys who must walk great lengths in order to survive a totalitarian regime. If a walker fails to maintain a specific pace, the consequences are deadly.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Hoffman provided a glimpse at the physical demands of the outdoor set, sans shade.
