A Cahokia Heights man accused of stealing an ambulance in Granite City this week now faces five felony charges.

According to court documents filed Friday that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook: Montez D. Williams, 36, was charged with one count of Offenses Related to Motor Vehicles, two counts of Aggravated Battery for alleged actions against law enforcement officers, and two counts of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer.

All are Class 2 felonies, with the exception of the last two counts, which are Class 4 felonies.

On Thursday, Williams is alleged to have stolen a MedStar ambulance soon after paramedics arrived at Granite City’s Gateway Regional Medical Center in the ambulance. The suspect was the only occupant of the ambulance.
