BLUFF, San Juan County — A small tornado was spotted in San Juan County Saturday, touching down near the Colorado-Utah border.

KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson said the tornado touched down on the ground in southeast Utah, just north of Montezuma Creek, which is about 15 miles east of Bluff.

The National Weather Service said San Juan County in Utah and Montezuma County in Colorado are under a tornado warning through Saturday afternoon.

"Heads up big storms in eastern Utah today!" Johnson said on Facebook, adding that the tornado was "impressive for Utah standards."

Some structural damage has been reported, but the extent of it is unknown, according to San Juan County administrator Mack McDonald. The high school and elementary school in Montezuma Creek are available for anyone needing sh
