EAST LANSING – Michigan State football won the battle with Youngstown State.

But it came with a significant toll.

One after another, the Spartans watched players leave the field with injuries. The most significant was wide receiver Nick Marsh. But starting running back Makhi Frazier and guard Luka Vincic also were lost during their 41-24 victory over the Penguins on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Aidan Chiles was 22-for-29 for 270 yards and a touchdown through the air and 76 yards on the ground as coach Jonathan Smith became the first coach in program history to get off to a 3-0 start in consecutive seasons to begin his career at MSU.
