El Paso pro boxer Raiko Santana won the biggest fight of his professional career on Saturday afternoon at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight.

Santana, who is from Cuba but has lived in El Paso for three years, defeated Steven Nelson by stoppage at 2:38 of the first round.

Santana improves to 13-4 with seven knockouts, Nelson falls to 20-2 and has lost two straight fights.

The 32-year-old Santana is trained by El Paso's Tommy Galindo. The two fighters fought at a catchweight of 172 pounds, between the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
