Attorneys for a group of migrants deported from the U.S., who are now being held in Ghana, fear their clients could soon be sent to their home countries, despite having fear-based protections against being returned home, the attorneys said during an emergency hearing Saturday afternoon. At least one plaintiff has already been moved to his home country of Gambia where he is now in hiding because of his sexual orientation, according to a lawsuit filed by the plaintiffs on Friday. Attorneys on Saturday told a federal judge that some of the migrants have been visited by representatives from their home countries and said they fear some will be removed from Ghana as soon as Monday.
