NEW LONDON, N.C. — UPDATE (9/13) : An explosion at a manufacturing facility in Stanly County injured four people Friday night, prompting a multi-agency response and an ongoing investigation, according to Stanly County officials.

The blast was reported around 5:58 p.m. at the Fiberon Manufacturing Facility in New London, according to Stanly County officials. Multiple fire departments and Stanly County Emergency Services responded to the scene after receiving several 911 calls reporting the explosion and possible injuries.

Four people were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, with two taken to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, officials said.
