ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) - Dry and hot conditions have led to several fire departments putting burn bans in place.
With temperatures on the rise in much of the Tri-States, several fire departments have implemented burn bans.
“If you lit a match and tossed it down there, it’s most likely going to catch a portion of your yard on fire,” said Tom Bentley, chief of the Tri-Township Fire Department.
Bentley explained burn bans cover everything except recreational fires. He sees the dry conditions as a major danger to the community.
“A person going by might be flicking a cigarette out and maybe catching a ditch on fire and maybe catching a field on fire,” he explained.
