Imagine you live in the Middle East and are thrown into prison for speaking to people about Jesus. What would your response be? The apostle Paul and his colleague Silas found themselves in that situation in Philippi just a few years after the resurrection of Jesus. They couldn’t phone their embassy. Their friends in town had no power to get a lawyer to bail them out. So they used their secret weapons of praise and prayer.

They sang hymns and prayed. The other prisoners were listening. So was God.
