Assistant head coach Damon Lathrope described as 'harsh' the decision by referee Ollie Yates to send off Plymouth Argyle captain Joe Edwards during the 3-2 win away to Luton Town.

Edwards was shown a straight red card in the 50th minute after sliding into a tackle on Millenic Alli inside Luton territory, just moments after the home team had equalised at 2-2 with a penalty from Nahki Wells.

Although 10-man Argyle went on to win the match with a 75th minute goal from Bradley Ibrahim, Edwards will be suspended for the next three League One games, starting against Peterborough United at Home Park next Saturday.

The youthful and injury-hit Pilgrims' squad will also be without their most experienced player for the trip to Burton Albion on September 27 and the visit of Ryan Lowe's Wigan Athl
