PEORIA, Ill. – If you think it was hot Saturday, you were right.
The thermometer peaked at 96 degrees in Peoria according to the National Weather Service, making Saturday the hottest day of the year.
The previous hottest day in Peoria was 94 on three occasions – June 25, August 16 and August 18.
Springfield did Peoria one degree better topping out at 97 degrees, besting its 95 degree day on August 16.
It was also the hottest day of the year in Lincoln with a high of 96 degrees. The previous hottest day in Lincoln was 94 on August 16.
Mostly hot and dry conditions are expected to continue through mid-week with highs in the low to mid 90s. Heat indices are expected to approach 100 degrees Sunday west of I-55.
