The Lumineers turned Comerica Park into their own mega coffeehouse Saturday night.
With a two-hour set that galloped through the group’s 13-year catalog of catchy folk-rock, the band spearheaded by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites played their biggest Detroit show to date for a crowd packing the downtown ballpark.
The group’s whimsical, stomp-clap sound may not strike you as something made to scale up to stadiums, but the Lumineers seemed right at home inside the cavernous venue, fostering a communal vibe among the 30,000-plus on hand. Synchronized bracelets worn by fans provided a colorful dance of lights across Comerica Park.
