A New Jersey power company worker has been identified as one of the two people killed Thursday in a helicopter crash in the Pocono Mountains.
Michael Higgins, 40, of Haddon Township, was killed in the 7:30 p.m. crash in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, said Carbon County Coroner Mark K. Smith.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration , the Hughes 369 helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances while maneuvering.
The helicopter, owned by power-line services company Winco Inc., crashed in a wooded area near the Penn’s Peak concert hall, WFMZ-TV 69 reported .
Higgins was working as a lineman on the flight, the coroner said. The aircraft’s pilot, Jeffrey Patmore, 52, of Terrace, British Columbia, also died in the crash.
The official cause and manner of death will be released u
