PHOENIX — A man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Phoenix on Saturday night, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said the person was hit at around 6:15 p.m. near 28th and Van Buren streets.

"When officers arrived, they found a man on the roadway with obvious signs of trauma," police said.

Fire crews rushed the man to the hospital, where he later died. Police identified the man as 45-year-old James Dillow.

Police said the driver involved remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

"Sometime after the roadway and scene was blocked off, a vehicle drove through the scene and later stopped by officers," police said. "The driver of that vehicle showed signs of impairment and is currently being processed for DUI."
