While Democratic leaders have rightfully condemned Charlie Kirk’s murder in the strongest possible terms, other liberals have excused and made light of the killing (“ Charlie Kirk memes trigger calls for educators in Cecil, Wicomico counties to resign ,” Sept. 11). I have heard anecdotally of some on the left expressing privately, through personal texts and verbal conversations, their belief that Mr. Kirk deserved this fate. We might like to blame this on youthful ignorance, but trusted adults — teachers in Maryland and in other states — have made light of this act of political violence.
We liberals make an egregious error if we allow ourselves to believe for one second that the world is better without Charlie Kirk. The world has been made a far worse place by his death. I would rather
