POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Two people have died and four others were injured after a crash in Poweshiek County Saturday night.

Iowa State Patrol said a Jeep Wrangler was traveling east on Ewart Road outside of Montezuma around 5:30 when it failed to stop at Highway 63.

That’s when it collided with a Jeep Renegade and both ended up in a cornfield.

Two passengers in the back seat of the Wrangler were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say they were not wearing seatbelts. Their names are not being released at this time.

The driver and other passenger in the Wrangler and the driver and passenger of the Renegade were all transported to a local hospital.
