Moderate to heavy damage reported in fire in southern Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Moderate to heavy damage was reported in a fire in southern Fort Wayne on Saturday.

According to the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD), firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 5700 block of Winchester Road around 9:45 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they say they saw smoke coming from a garage. All people inside the house had self-evacuated.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire to prevent it from entering the home, extinguished hot spots, and confirmed that everyone was safe.

FWFD says the fire was under control in ten minutes.

The fire remains under investigation.
