Cost of Living Split up? In this economy?!

What happens when two people break up, but because it's expensive for either of them to live elsewhere, they end up living together for a time? It may sound like the plot from an early 2000s rom-com, but for Toni Caldarella, it's reality.

"It's an awful situation because you do walk around on eggshells a lot of the time," Caldarella of Mission, B.C., told . "It takes its toll on you. I think I've aged 10 years since this started."

And she's not the only one taking such desperate measures. Although housing costs have cooled some in recent months , buying or renting on a single income is still a challenge for many.
