CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians pitching coach Carl Willis describes this season as “a journey of some patience” as the team’s young pitching staff continues to develop while pushing for a playoff spot.

As Cleveland’s starters have strung together more than a week of dominant outings — rescuing their oft-beleaguered bullpen at the tail end of a stretch of 17 games in 17 days — it seems the club’s patience has paid off.
