GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. — Two people are dead after a crash caused by a downed stop sign in Grand Traverse County on Friday, according to the Michigan State Police (MSP).
Around 12:05 a.m., troopers from the MSP Traverse City Post responded to County Road 633 near Miller Road in Mayfield Township for a crash.
The preliminary investigation showed a white Jeep with two passengers was headed west on Miller Road and a gray Jeep with two passengers was headed south on County Road 633.
The white Jeep was supposed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Miller and County Road 633. However, troopers said the stop sign had been damaged in a previous incident and was lying in the ditch.
Due to this, the white Jeep didn't stop and was hit on its passenger side by the gray Jeep.
