WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested and returned an escaped inmate to the Washington State Prison on Sunday, according to a release.
In the release, Sheriff Joel Cochran said just after 6 a.m., the sheriff's office got a call from the prison that an inmate escaped. The release does not specify how the inmate escaped.
They said, they quickly jumped into action, and that the sheriff's office personnel and Georgia Department of Corrections staff at the state prison worked together to track the inmate down.
The release added that the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office also helped out in finding the escaped inmate.
According to the release, the inmate was quickly found, captured and returned to the state prison within 30 minutes.
