ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — A 27-year-old Perry County woman was killed in a head-on crash in Athens County Sunday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers were called on a report of a crash on state Route 682, just south of Wildwood Lane, in Athens Township.

OSHP said a Nissan Sentra, driven by Monica Perani, was traveling on Route 682 when it was hit by a Ram 1500 pick-up that went left of center.

Perani was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ram was transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Athens County EMS Chief Amber Pyle confirmed Perani was one of the department's paramedics. She worked there for nearly three years.

The crash remains under investigation.
