WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A man from Johnston City, Illinois is facing a felony charge after an incident earlier this month.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said at around 6:45 p.m. on September 4, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting that a process server heard gunshots after trying to serve legal papers at a home in the 17000 block of Illinois Route 37.
The deputies reportedly pulled into the driveway and were confronted by a man armed with a handgun. The deputies told the man to drop the gun. He hesitated for several seconds before lowering the weapon to the ground.
Deputies arrested the man, later identified as Steven R. King. He admitted to shooting a round into the ground because he did not want the process server on his property and intended to scare her away.
