A suspect was arrested on suspicion of battery for allegedly stabbing a man in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.
Officers responding at about 4:50 p.m. Saturday to a report of a stabbing in the 6300 block of Cherry Avenue contacted the victim and the suspect, Daniel Eleazar Holgun, 43, of Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital and Holgun was arrested on suspicion of battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm, police said. His bail was set at $10,000.
The victim was expected to survive his wounds.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were in an altercation when the suspect stabbed the victim,” according to a police statement. “The investigation is ongoing.”
