A Georgia police officer is recovering after a suspect shot him in the face during a suspicious vehicle call, according to officials.

Police arrested 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey for allegedly shooting McCaysville police Capt. Brantley Worley on Friday night. Chief Michael Earley told reporters that officers were responding to a suspicious person call along First Street shortly after 11 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, Ramsey allegedly opened fire and "brutally shot my officer in the face," Earley said in an interview with Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB .
