Red Sox pitching prospect Luis Perales hit 98-100 mph with his fastball on Saturday in his first outing since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024.
The 22-year-old, who’s on Boston’s 40-man roster, started for Double-A Portland. He tossed one scoreless inning and pitched around a walk. He threw 16 pitches, eight for strikes.
Perales began the 2025 season ranked as Boston’s No. 1 pitching prospect, but Baseball America now has him ranked behind pitchers Payton Tolle , 2025 first-round pick Kyson Witherspoon , Connelly Early and Brandon Clarke . Overall, he is the Red Sox’ No. 8 prospect, according to Baseball America.
