WASHINGTON — It’s the ballroom blitz.

President Trump announced that the prized new White House ballroom he is adding will actually be more spacious than initially planned, with a capacity of up to about 900 people, marking a 40% increase.

“We’re making it a little bigger. It will be top of the line, as good as it can get anywhere in the world,” Trump told NBC News during a recent phone interview.

Back in July, when the White House first unveiled plans for a new ballroom, it claimed the capacity would be 650 people — 90,000 square feet — and put its estimated price tag at $200 million.

Trump has suggested that he will tap into his own coffers to help foot the bill for construction of the new ballroom alongside outside donors whom he dubbed “patriots.” 4
