ATLANTA – Hunter Stratton earned his first win as a member of the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon, pitching two solid innings for the team in their 8-3 win over the Houston Astros.
The former Sullivan East High School star allowed one run on two hits, while striking out two and issuing one walk.
Taking over for starter Joey Wentz to begin the fifth inning, Stratton struck out the first two batters he faced in Houston sluggers Jeremy Pena and Yordan Alvarez.
He got three groundball outs and a lineout, while the only run he yielded came on a 446-foot solo homer by Cam Smith in the sixth.
Stratton was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday as he’s shuffled between Atlanta and the minors frequently since being acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirate
