PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Fire Department crews rescued a man from the Illinois River late Saturday afternoon after a collision in the water between two jet skis.
The fire department was called shortly after 4:15 p.m. to an area of the river just north of the McClugage Bridge, off East Lorentz Avenue.
A release said the man is expected to recover after rescuers found him conscious and holding onto a jet ski.
Two firefighters wearing Gumby suits got the man out of the water, and paramedics gave him emergency treatment aboard the Marine 1 rescue boat.
Once at Peoria Harbor Marina, an ambulance took him to OSF Trauma Center. He is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Apparently, the second jet skier was not injured.
