OTTAWA — Promising to “supercharge” home construction, Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled a new agency tasked with overseeing government housing programs — one day before the House of Commons is set to begin its fall session.

And a former Toronto city councillor —  Ana Bailao — has been picked to run this new agency, which the PM says will create a more effective and streamlined homebuilding industry.

Making the announcement Sunday afternoon in front of a modular home built in suburban Ottawa, Mark Carney said it’s going to take “all hands on deck” to get Canada out of its current housing crisis.
