PITTSFIELD -- Over a thousand people from across the state flocked to Manson Park in Pittsfield Sunday for a festival all about cheese.

The Maine Cheese Festival was started nearly a decade ago by the Maine Cheese Guild as a way to highlight how much cheese was being made across the state and to encourage consumers to buy Maine products.

Sunday's event featured over 60 vendors from across the state, including numerous award-winning creameries.

"My favorite part about this event here is just being out in the sunshine and getting to talk to people and to hear how much they love our cheese," said Earl Taylor, Production Supervisor for Pineland Farms Dairy Company based in Bangor.

This is the Maine Cheese guild's largest fundraising event of the year and helps support their mission of edu
