LIVINGSTON COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - With temperatures near 90, the heat was more than some Central Illinois high schoolers could handle during a marching band competition early Saturday evening at Pontiac High School.
Several ambulances and fire crews were called to the school to treat students who became ill while participating in the annual Pontiac Showdown.
“Brutally hot” was how the St. Joseph-Ogden High School Fine Arts Booster Club described conditions in a Facebook post .
A source who was also on the scene said three members of the El Paso Gridley Marching Band were taken to OSF St. James - John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. They are believed to be doing better.
