The Philadelphia Flyers cleared their goaltending logjam Sunday by trading Ivan Fedotov to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The 28-year-old was a seventh-round pick in the 2015 draft by the Flyers who developed late while playing in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League. After much consternation and a dispute over Fedotov’s required military service, the Flyers extracted him from Russia.
He played three games in the 2023-24 season and 26 last year, going 6-13-4 with a 3.15 goals-against average and .880 save percentage.
The Flyers struggled in goal last year, ranked 28th in the NHL in GAA (3.45) and dead last in save percentage (.879). They signed Dan Vladar to a two-year, $6.7 million contract as a free agent to augment Samuel Ersson in the goaltendi
