YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- A York County memorial dedicated to remembering the lives lost to impaired driving continues to grow.

“This memorial was erected back in the 80's in memory of innocent victims of DUI related crashes on York County highways, roadways,” said Missy Sweitzer, specialist of Center for Traffic Safety in York. “Originally, it started out, I believe, with 16 names over the years. And after several dedications, our last dedication was done in 2019, and we were up to 86 names.”

Nine more names were added to the memorial for the rededication ceremony Sunday.

A few dozen were in attendance who personally lost a loved one due to an impaired driver – like Sweitzer who lost her son.
