Each day, we are reminded of the conflicts in the world, most notably, the Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Hamas wars and the calls for peace through cease-fire and a truce.

Well, we need a cease-fire and truce right here at home in America through a toning down of the rhetoric and histrionics that fuel the flame of violence and negatively impact constructive civil discourse.

We need leaders in the mold of former President Ronald Reagan, who could speak to the nation in difficult times in a soothing voice and try to bring comfort and calm.

Many may not have subscribed to Reagan’s politics or policy, me included, but at those moments, he brought a calming influence to our nation. We may not have remembered his precise words that evening, but we were able to have a better night’s sleep. Our pol
