It's already beginning to look like the spookiest time of the year at Six Flags Great America, even though summer isn't officially over quite yet.

Fright Fest, the season-long event during which the amusement park is transformed into "a terrifying Halloween celebration," officially kicked off on Saturday.

If you've been in past years and think you've seen it all, that's not the case.

There are plenty of changes this year.

Six Flags said last month that this year's Fright Fest would bring "all-new nightmares" in the form of multiple haunted mazes, rides in the dark and "immersive horror experiences."

This year's fest features three haunted mazes from the Hollywood horror franchises, including The Conjuring Universe, SAW: Legacy of Terror and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
