Seth Rogen just secured his first Emmy win.

The actor took home the award for best lead actor in a comedy series for his role in "The Studio," which he also co-created for Apple TV+, at the 77th Emmy Awards ceremony Sunday, Sept. 14, in Los Angeles.

"I so could not wrap my head around this happening, but I literally prepared nothing," Rogen said while receiving the award. "I never won anything in my life. When I was a kid, I bought a used bowling trophy at an estate sale, and my parents were like, 'Yeah, that's a good idea. You should probably buy that.'"

Thanking his wife, family and everyone who worked on the show, Rogen said: "This is really just so lovely, and I don't know what to say. This is so nice."

His first Emmy ever was not the only trophy of the night. Rogen also received the award for outstanding directing for a comedy series alongside co-creator and executive producer Evan Goldberg.

"The Studio," which tied for third place with HBO's "The White Lotus" with 23 nods on the Emmy nominations list, also tied the record set in 2024 by "The Bear" for most nominations for a comedy series. It has already won 11 awards: two during Sunday night's ceremony and 9 at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

It is running for best comedy series alongside Apple TV+'s own "Shrinking," ABC's "Abbott Elementary," FX/Hulu's "The Bear," HBO Max's "Hacks," Netflix's "Nobody Wants This," Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building" and FX's "What We Do in the Shadows."

Rogan, in the show, plays Matt Remick, a studio executive, as he navigates an embattled Continental Studios after being newly appointed as the head. It's the job Remick has been "pursuing his whole life and may very well destroy him."

"As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films," the series' synopsis says.

Seth Rogen receives his first Emmy from Stephen Colbert

Rogen received the award from "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert, who received a standing ovation after poking fun at the network that canceled his show. As Colbert walked on stage to present the first award of the night, the crowd leapt to its feet for a loud and raucous standing ovation and some even chanted "Stephen! Stephen! Stephen!" like the audience at "The Late Show" does every episode.

A visibly pleased Colbert sat the audience back down, but had plenty of jokes about his firing, which he got to tell. "While I have your attention, is anyone hiring?" he said, then added, referencing his large "Late Show" staff, "because I have 200 very qualified candidates with me tonight, who will be available in June."

"I also brought my own resume here tonight. I haven't had a chance to update my headshot in a bit, but I think it still works," he said, holding up a photo from many decades ago. "Harrison Ford, could you get this to (Steven) Spielberg?"
