NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Gov. Kathy Hochul has made her choice for who she thinks should win the New York City mayor race.

Gov. Hochul officially announced Sunday that she has endorsed Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani for the upcoming election.

"New York City deserves a mayor who will stand up to Donald Trump and make life more affordable for New Yorkers. That's Zohran Mamdani," the governor said in a social media post.

Gov. Hochul wrote an opinion piece in the New York Times explaining her decision. She believes that, although they have had disagreements, Mamdani is the right man for the job.

"In our conversations, I heard a leader who shares my commitment to a New York where children can grow up safe in their neighborhoods and where opportunity is within reach for every family," Hoch
