ELYRIA, Ohio — Hundreds of people filled Elyria’s downtown square Sunday evening for a prayer gathering for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed last week during an event at Utah Valley University.
“The atmosphere is full of love. The atmosphere is full of unity,” said Marilyn Vicent, who attended the event.
Attendees said the gathering was both a way to process their grief and to honor Kirk’s legacy from afar.
“In a sense, I feel like this tragedy has kind of brought us all together,” said Kenny Santiago Marrero, another attendee, who said he is still in shock over Kirk’s death.
