CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Early Sunday morning hundreds of people raced through West Park to honor fallen police officers and firefighters at the 23rd annual Heroes Run .
“They sacrifice their lives for us. It is the least I can do is come out here and run five miles,” said Tania Puszakowski.
Tania’s son is a Euclid Police Officer, so she ran five miles to honor Fallen Officer Jacob Derbin, who was killed in the line of duty last year.
“It just melts my heart. I just love that the community gets together. We need that. We need the community to get together and be involved,” said Puszakowski.
Jacob Schuler, who is just nine years old, ran with his family.
His grandpa is a retired fireman, and his uncle is a detective with Cleveland Police.
“It is fun, and I don’t really care if I win
