Nevada’s firearms background check system returned to full operation this morning following the Aug. 24 cyber incident that caused statewide network disruptions, state officials said.

Nevada’s Brady Firearms Unit background check system resumed operations at 8 a.m. today, according to an announcement from the Governor’s Technology Office and the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s State Police Division.

The restoration includes both the electronic portal, which allows licensed firearms dealers to submit background checks online, and phone support lines for dealers without portal access.

Officials are encouraging dealers with portal access to use the online system to help reduce call volume and expedite service.
