West Coast co-captain Isabella Lewis says the Eagles will “hold our heads high” after a narrow western derby defeat to Fremantle.
The Eagles fell to a seven-point defeat in miserable conditions at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday, extending their winless run against their bitter crosstown foes to eight consecutive games.
The Dockers entered the clash with three consecutive defeats, including 70 and 100-point losses, but Lewis said West Coast were expecting a very different Fremantle to run out in the derby.
“Freo, at the end of the day, the first four rounds they versed three of the top teams in the competition and we knew that so I think they were not given enough credit that they were due,” Lewis told The West Australian.
“They clearly showed that today in the conditions.
“Th
