BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's assassination, Turning Point USA at Indiana University hosted a vigil in honor of the man who co-founded the organization.
For students, the vigil was emotional.
"When he got shot, unfortunately, it didn't just feel like an assassination — it felt like a punch to the gut," Turning Point USA at IU Chapter President James Chambers said.
The vigil for Kirk, a conservative political activist, also brought several public officials to Bloomington. U.S. Senator Todd Young said people want political violence to stop.
"I'm here to honor his life, I'm here to acknowledge his sacrifice, and I'm here to do my part as a U.S. Senator from Indiana to call people to better behavior and to continued service," Young said.
