A Greens voice has returned to Shoalhaven Council with Debbie Killian given the nod to fill the ward three vacancy left by Cr Natalee Johnson's resignation.

Under the countback system all unsuccessful ward three candidates from last year's council election were asked if they were interested in being included in a recount of votes, but Cr Killian was the only one to put up her hand.

The Fisherman's Paradise resident comes to council with decades of experience in the public service and not-for-profit sectors, including working in senior management roles in Sydney councils.

That included teaching high school English, being a youth worker, setting up youth health service, working in community health, managing community and allied health services and time managing programs in local governmen
